Green tea is a product
made from the Camellia sinensis plant. Green tea is more than just green
liquid. It also has small
amounts of minerals that are important for health.
Tea is the second most consumed
beverage in the world. Water is first.
Green tea
contains
2% to 4% caffeine,
which affects thinking and alertness, increases urine output, and may improve
the function of brain messengers important in Parkinson’s disease.
Caffeine is thought to stimulate
the nervous system, heart, and muscles by increasing the release of certain
chemicals in the brain called “neurotransmitters.”
Helps reduce
risk of osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, and cavities.
Green tea contains a
rich concentration of flavonoids and polyphenols, natural antioxidants that may
protect cells from carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) and Green tea also
has small amounts of minerals that are important for healthnhibit tumor growth
by helping to neutralize free radicals in the body.
Green tea also contains
fluoride, which strengthens teeth the flavonoids may build up bones as well,
reducing the risk of osteoporosis and tooth decay
Other
benefits of Green tea bags
Instead of drinking green tea, some people apply green tea bags to their
skin to soothe sunburn and prevent skin cancer due to sun
exposure.
Green tea bags are also used to
decrease puffiness under the eyes, as a compress for tired eyes or headache,
and to stop gums from bleeding after a tooth is pulled.
Good for your
Skin
Green tea can apparently also help with wrinkles and the signs of aging
[this is because of their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities] both
animal and human studies have demonstrated that green tea applied topically can
reduce sun damage.
Can green tea
aid weight loss?
Green tea is alleged to
boost weight loss. Green
tea preparations used for losing weight are extracts of green tea that
contain a higher concentration of catechins and caffeine than the typical
green tea beverage prepared from tea bag and boiling water.
Can green tea
lower blood pressure?
Regular consumption of green tea is thought to reduce the risk of high
blood pressure.
A 2014 serve of data from
previously published studies looked at the evidence of whether drinking green
tea could help lower blood pressure. There was evidence of a modest reduction
in people with high blood pressure who consumed green tea.
But whether this reduction would lead to clinically significant results,
such as preventing the onset of heart disease or stroke is unclear.
Good for
Diabetes
Green tea apparently helps regulate glucose levels slowing the rise of
blood sugar after eating. This can prevent high insulin spikes and resulting
fat storage.
