The appeal of cabbage juice lies not in its
taste, which is rather bitter, but in the many health benefits you can derive
from drinking it. A member of the healthy cruciferous family of vegetables that
also includes broccoli and cauliflower, cabbage contains a wealth of
micronutrients as well as a wide array of phytochemicals with a similarly broad
variety of medicinal properties.
Cabbage juice has been used as prevention and
a successful treatment of diabetes by many medical experts. It contains
antioxidants and effective antihyperglycemic that can recover harmed pancreatic
cells. Additionally, it is rich in vitamin C, vitamins B1, B2 and B6,
potassium, magnesium and a lot of healthy proteins.
A 2008 study has shown that cabbage juice
reduces the levels of blood glucose, and can be helpful in the process of
losing weight.
Recipe
Wash and cut off half a kilogram of cabbage
lace it in blender or juicer and include ¼ cup of water. Mix until you get
homogeneous green blend, and afterward blend for 10 seconds at the highest
speed. Consume a glass of the resulting blend regularly, before every meal.
Benefits of Cabbage juice
It contains numerous sulfur-based compounds
which are ideal for killing all types of harmful viruses, bacteria, and other
pathogens in the stomach and intestinal tract.
The juice is loaded with billions and
billions of lactic acid-producing bacteria that reesta-blish the friendly
bacterial flora in the lower bowel.
Cabbage and its juice also contain mucin-like
compounds that can both protect against ulcer formation and promote the healing
of existing ulcers. Straight cabbage juice from a juicer works wonders at
treating ulcers. I’ve found that drinking a quart of the juice throughout the
day seems to work best. Stick with it for at least two weeks.
Both fermented and straight cabbage juice is
rich in compounds called indoles. Numerous studies have shown that indoles are
detoxifying agents and can stop the formation of colon cancer.
One of the more fascinating uses of cab bage
and/or cabbage juice may be in protecting the body against radiation. In the
1950’s, our military found that simply eating cabbage provided a protective
effect against lethal dosages of radiation.
