When you think of turmeric, a tasty curry
dish might come to mind, but hold that thought! Turmeric is
delicious and it's great for your skin! Turmeric has been known to
contain numerous antioxidants as well as antibacterial properties. Giving you amazing
benefit for your skin, hair and health.
Treatment of Skin Conditions
Being a natural antiseptic, turmeric with
milk is effective in treating skin conditions like poison ivy, eczema and
psoriasis. Eczema is quite itchy and a painful disease characterized by red,
scaly patches on the skin. Topical application of a mixture of "kasturi" turmeric
with milk can soothe the skin and reduce the redness and inflammation.
Lighten Pigmentation
If you have pigmentation and discoloration
then using turmeric will surely help. Turmeric is said to lighten pigmentation
and even out skin tone. This is the reason why many natural skin care brands
use Turmeric as an active ingredient.
Turmeric for a clear skin
Turmeric can lighten skin pigmentation and
promote a clearer skin tone due to its natural active properties. You can use
turmeric paste directly onto the skin for getting the best results or you can
also have turmeric mixed with warm milk to get the best benefits on your skin.
Facial Mask for Oily Skin
Turmeric is beneficial for oily skin as it
regulates the production of sebum, an oily substance produced by the sebaceous
glands. Sandalwood acts as an astringent and orange juice, being a source of
vitamin C, helps clear the blemishes. For oily skin, make a paste by mixing 1 ½
tablespoons of sandalwood powder and a pinch of ground turmeric with 3
tablespoons of orange juice and apply it on your face. Leave it for 10 to 15
minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.
Turmeric fights wrinkles
If wrinkles are your worst worries, include
turmeric in your daily beauty care regime and you are sure to see the
differences within weeks. Turmeric is rich in natural antioxidants that help in
stimulating the production of natural collagen and elastin in the skin cells,
enhancing skin elasticity and erasing wrinkles.
Make a pack with raw milk, turmeric powder
and tomato juice. Apply this pack onto your face and let it dry. Wash off with
fresh water. You can see effects on your skin within a week.
Night Cream
You can apply a paste made from turmeric and
milk or yogurt on your face. Leave the mask overnight and rinse it off the
next morning using a light cleanser. Alternatively, you can add a pinch of
turmeric to your moisturizer and cleanse the next morning. This should be done
twice a week to get beautiful, healthy and younger looking skin.
Turmeric can heal cracked heels
Use a mixture of turmeric and coconut oil on
the cracks on your heels. Leave on for 20 minutes and then wash off with water
and pat dry. You can see improvements within a week.
Control Oily Skin
Women with oily
skin will love turmeric. A mixture made with pure sandalwood
paste (freshly prepared paste from pure sandalwood bar), turmeric and a bit of
orange juice. Apply this paste on your face and leave it for 10 minutes. Once
the pack dries off, use warm water to rinse the pack.
Treatment of Dandruff
Dandruff and other scalp issues can be
treated by applying a mixture of turmeric and olive oil on your scalp before
taking a shower. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash off the mixture with
a natural shampoo. It removes the signs of dandruff by increasing the
circulation in the scalp and providing nutrition to the hair follicles.
Turmeric Paste for pimples
This is probably the easiest and the most
commonly used turmeric-remedy for pimples. All you need is turmeric and water.
You can apply this paste to the pimple-affected area and leave it for some
time. This will stop the pimple from developing further and cure it really
soon. Apply this regularly to get best results. You can also substitute water
with honey as honey has antiseptic properties.
Anti-Aging
Turmeric provides a great relief to aging
skin. Turmeric paste and Turmeric powder, for many years, have been a part
of the beauty regimen. Even today brides and grooms Turmeric as a ceremony
where Turmeric paste is applied over their faces and body. Turmeric powder or
paste if mixed with equal amounts of besan and raw milk makes a great exfoliate
and makes skin glow.
Use this pack before bathing. Apply the pack
generously over the face and body and then wait till it dries off. Then bathe
without using any soap or body wash. For the face, you should scrub
in circular motion.
